Sangam

One of the largest religious gatherings in the world, the Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj happens once every 12 years at the Sangam. It is a spectacular event, drawing millions of people who come to bathe in the holy rivers to cleanse themselves of sins. The next Kumbh Mela will be in 2025. During the Mela, the city transforms into a temporary metropolis with makeshift tents, religious discourses, and various cultural activities.

The Triveni Sangam is the most sacred site in Prayagraj, where the three rivers (Ganga, Yamuna, and Sarasvati) meet. Pilgrims come here to take a holy dip, as it is believed to wash away sins and bestow spiritual purification. The confluence is especially crowded during the Kumbh Mela, a massive Hindu festival that attracts millions of devotees.
